Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Shane L. Dixon

Shane L. Dixon is the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. to the U.S. Embassy in Mogadishu, Somalia. He joined the Foreign Service in 2006 and has most recently served as the Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, Romania. He is a Supervisory Special Agent in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security and previously served in Bucharest, Romania; Karachi, Pakistan; Ciudad Juarez, Mexico; Lusaka, Zambia; and Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. He has also worked in Diplomatic Security’s International Programs Office in Washington, DC and the Los Angeles Field Office. Prior to joining the Department of State, Shane served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a Federal Agent for the Department of Energy.

Shane grew up in Gladeville, Tennessee. He has an undergraduate degree from Tennessee Tech University and holds a Master of Science and Technology Intelligence from the National Intelligence University. Shane speaks Spanish and Romanian and has limited proficiency in French. His spouse, Amanda, is a Consular Officer currently pursuing a master’s degree in War, Diplomacy, and Society at Chapman University. Shane is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys mountaineering and diving.
