United States Condemns Mogadishu Bombing

For Immediate Release   

The United States strongly condemns the January 2, terrorist attack near Mogadishu International Airport and the Peace Hotel that killed security personnel and innocent civilians. This attack is another attempt by terrorists to weaken Somalia as it works to conclude the ongoing electoral process.  The United States stands with the people of Somalia during this critical period, and we express our deep sympathies to the victims and their families.  The United States will continue to support Somalia’s efforts to fight terrorism and support Somalis in their quest for a peaceful new year.
